Pre-K (3)
Pre-K (3) welcomed Leo Chen, Adeoluwa Adewuyi, Kelly Quizphi, Raquel Rivera, Josue Leon, Zoe Anderson and Sophia Fernandez to a fine classroom where learning is a barrel of fun! We love going to the gym, making art, and learning on the computers, but most of all we love naptime! “
- Ms. Semple, Pre-K (3) Homeroom

Pre-K (4) Language arts
“In English Language Arts, the Pre-K (4) students are learning listening skills, following directions and alphabet and color recognition.”
- Ms. Zawodny, Pre-K (4) Language Arts

Pre-K(4) Homeroom

Pre-K (4) students have done a great job practicing the alphabet letters and sounds. They are learning to write their names and also to count from 0-10. We are trying to go on a field trip to the pumpkin patch this month! “
- Ms. Vallicello, Pre-K (4) Homeroom

Kindergarten
“The Kindergarten students are learning their letters and sounds on both English and Spanish. Also, they have been working on following directions, rhyming, handwriting and reading. The students have been working very hard and trying to adjust to a busy schedule. I am very proud of them. Parents can ask their child to read them the decodable books that come home. The more children read and are read too , the better they do in school. “
- Ms. Zawodny, Kindergarten Homeroom

Kindergarten Spanish

“We are practicing number recognition and letter recognition in Spanish. We will also be learning to count numbers 0-20 in Spanish.”
- Ms. Vallicello, Kindergarten Spanish

1st grade
“First grade is learning their numbers from 0-20 in Spanish! As part of the Dual Language Program, 1st grade is learning the different phonetic sounds in Spanish. They are doing a great job!”
- Ms. Morgan, 1st Grade Spanish

“The first grade is working hard to learn sight words and to decode our books. We are reviewing the consonants and vowels of the alphabet. Please keep reading every night at home. The first graders need as much practice as they can get so they can become fluent readers. We will also begin to work on parts of speech and on working to improve comprehension of the stories we read. The students will have decodable books that come home almost every day. Please have them practice these stories as much as you can. In Science, we will be planting our own seeds and observing how they grow, as well as learning about the parts of the plant. In Religion, we have just finished working on the story of Noah's Ark, and now, we will begin to learn about Jesus, who he was and about his teachings. All of the First graders are working very hard this year, so keep up the good work!”
- Ms. Aschinger, 1st Grade Homeroom

2nd grade
“Second grade is doing a great job learning to count money. We are also working on our weekly spelling words and sentence structure.”
- Ms. Morgan, 2nd Grade Homeroom

“The second graders are completing their first pieces of the year.  They have just learned how to write using the Writing Process.  Our first pieces are autobiographies, and the published pieces are turning out amazing.  The students did an excellent job brainstorming their ideas, writing drafts, editing their work, and creating finished pieces.  They should be very proud of themselves.  In Reading, we are reviewing long vowels and blends.  Students should be reading every single night.  Many of the students' reading has improved drastically, because they have been practicing. “
- Ms. Aschinger, 2nd Grade Reading

4th grade
“In Social Studies, the fourth graders are learning about how the Native Americans made their living through art. With this lesson we are making a pottery village. In Science we learned all about the cells, and made a 3-D cell out of jello. In math we are learning to estimate.”
- Ms. Nieves, 4th Grade Homeroom

5th grade
“In Science, the fifth graders are learning about the animal kingdom, starting with the vertebrates. At the end of each lesson we make an origami animal to remember and write down its characteristics. In Math we are learning to work with fractions and decimals.”
- Ms. Nieves, 5th Grade Science & Math
